Purpose of the Board

The Corporate Equality Board takes a strategic lead on equalities and diversity issues at Worcestershire County Council.  The Board is chaired by a Chief Officer, and comprises of the Senior Managers from all Directorates, the three Lead Members on diversity issues and the Corporate Diversity Manager.  The diagram below explains the structure for equality and diversity within Worcestershire

Purpose of Board

The Corporate Equality Board will:

Be responsible for co-ordinating and monitoring Worcestershire County Council's work on the Equality Standard for Local Government, ensuring that the application and implementation is consistent throughout the authority

Actively support the duty to promote equality of opportunity and good relations and eliminate all forms of discrimination

Provide leadership in the development of authority wide policies, procedures and practice to promote equality of opportunity in employment and service delivery as a mainstream activity.  This will take account of experience and new and emerging legislation
