The Research and Intelligence Unit monitors the economic well being of Worcestershire. In this role the unit is involved in economic research related to analysing employment and unemployment data, running economic forecasting models and the production of economic intelligence.
The two main types of economic intelligence produced by the unit are a Monthly County Economic Summary and an Annual County Economic Assessment in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce.
The labour market profiles are taken from the NOMIS website give an overview of labour market information from a number of different sources. For example, they contain information about economic activity, working-age benefits, labour demand, earnings etc. There is an individual labour market profile for each of the six Districts in Worcestershire and they are also available for District Wards and Parliamentary Constituencies.
Each month the unit produces a county economic summary containing the most up to date unemployment data for Worcestershire. Included in the document is unemployment data at ward, district and county level with an indication of how the pattern is changing over time and a comparison with the regional and national picture. Normally, specialist articles related to specific aspects of Worcestershire's economy are included alongside brief articles containing important local and national economic news.
On an annual basis Worcestershire County Council, in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce, produce the Worcestershire County Economic Assessment.
The Assessment is an analysis of current trends and developments in Worcestershire's economy. The Assessment contains a wealth of information to provide an overview of recent national economic policy in order to establish a framework for, and give meaning to, developments in the county. The document aims to update the reader on local labour market and economic information.
